Biography of Ian McKellar

Ian McKellarIan McKellar grew up on the Northern beaches of Sydney and far South Coast of NSW. On completion of High School he attended The Drama Studio in Sydney. The two year full time diploma course included studies in Method acting, voice, modern dance, script and character development, and Movement Psychology.

Movement Psychology is a study approach to character development through physical movement, rhythm, speed, and energy force, and provided a physical counter balance to the more intellectual techniques of Method acting discipline.

On immediate graduation Ian worked in various roles in the theatre industry, including stage and production management, set construction, rigging, and prop design and construction.

During his time at acting school, Ian self taught himself juggling and unicycle skills. These were skills, which combined with a high level of character and theatrical presentation, formed the basis for comedy and skill based performances.

Show formats and venues over thirty years of performance have varied from theatres, festivals, corporate events, comedy venues, cruise ships, private functions, schools and street performances. He has performed professional engagements in Australia, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Canada, Egypt, the UAE, and Qatar, and is now expanding to the entire MENA region having relocated to Dubai in 2007.

He continues to provide MC and comedy skill performances, as well as entertainment consultancy solutions, to the entertainment and event industries.
